Kayla Doherty
LICSW
Hello! My name is Kayla and I am the owner of Thrive Wellness Counseling. I am a LICSW who graduated from Boston University with my Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work. I have been working in the North Andover/Andover/Lawrence area for fourteen years. My passion is working with people who have experienced trauma and helping them to heal. I have been extensively trained in trauma and trauma therapy (TF-CBT, ARC, and My Life My Choice to name a few). My goal is to help you feel better in as little time as possible. No two traumas are the same and no two clients are the same, so treatment timelines can vary greatly, however, I would say an average treatment duration is six to twelve months. Treatment plans are always individualized and based on client needs and preferences. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to trauma treatment. Clients need to feel comfortable, accepted, and understood when doing this work which is why I decided to start my own practice to be able to give my clients everything they need to heal.
Michelle Mahoney
LMHC
Hi! My name is Michelle and I'm a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts. I have worked with children (both latency aged and adolescents) and adults in individual therapy and have engaged within family therapy for the past seven years. My personal therapeutic approach is that it is all about you - what you need, what helps you, and what can best support you in that moment. I do believe that therapy is a process - it takes time and some work but it's important to know that you aren't alone within this process.
I spent five years working with traumatized youth and their families to begin to work through their trauma histories, developing coping strategies, and rebuilding positive attachments through the use of TF-CBT, ARC framework, and SMART which have so many benefits when utilized within the therapeutic process.
Therapy is about what you want from it, however, I do believe that the best outcomes come from an interactive experience that utilizes different modalities and tools to best support your progress. This can be utilized through homework between sessions, movement based activities, coping strategies and other things that are specific for you!

Life Coach
With a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Social Work, plus graduate-level coursework from Boston University’s MSW program, I bring both academic training and deep personal insight to my work as a life coach. I’ve spent seven years as a patient access coordinator in a fast-paced emergency department, supporting individuals during some of their most vulnerable moments. As a mother of four—including one forever newborn in heaven—and a former divorcee now happily married to the most supportive partner I could ask for, I know firsthand the weight of heartbreak and the power of healing. I’m passionate about helping others navigate grief, loss, and life’s unexpected turns, offering guidance grounded in empathy, resilience, and hope.
If you're ready to reclaim your strength, rewrite your story, and move forward with intention, I'm here to walk that path with you.
